Director of Hopscotch Design Festivalmarie@newkind.com
Have fun. Eat delicious snacks. Celebrate.
As Director of Hopscotch Design Festival, Marie inspires the next generation of designers who are prepared to lead in the complexity and uncertainty of today’s world. She’s responsible for the festival’s vision, lineup, programming, sponsorship, and most critically, building a community of people who want to push the edges of exploring what design is and why it’s important in today’s world.
Prior to joining New Kind, Marie worked with University of Virginia Foundation, Tom Tom Founders Festival, and Design Corps in a variety of design and communication roles. She holds a B.S. in Architecture from the University of Virginia.
Marie is happiest when designing experiences. She loves asking big questions, turning strangers into friends, eating a smorgasbord of snacks, and doing projects that matter.
Why New Kind?
Be patient toward all that is unsolved in your heart and try to love the questions themselves, like locked rooms and like books that are now written in a very foreign tongue. Do not now seek the answers, which cannot be given you because you would not be able to live them. And the point is, to live everything. Live the questions now. Perhaps you will then gradually, without noticing it, live along some distant day into the answer.
– Rainer Maria Rilke
