Crafting a visual symbol to turn supporters into activists in the campaign to defeat Amendment One.
The Coalition to Protect ALL North Carolina Families united to defeat a constitutional amendment to ban gay marriage. We partnered with them in a 5-month campaign, creating a visual identity system that served as a symbol of the movement towards protecting all families and children.
At the heart of the identity was the logo — simply a unique letter A with “ALL” typeset in the counterspace. ALL was the core message — Protecting ALL Families. We made the files available for customization, so that anyone could fill the letter A with their own picture. This lead to thousands of Twitter and Facebook users showing their support for the movement through their own channels.
